Orlando Torres

August 15, 1931 — February 22, 2013

It is with sorrowful hearts that we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Orlando Torres on February 22, 2013. He was born August 15, 1931 in Willard, New Mexico. He was a kind and generous man who always placed others before himself. We send our beloved Orlando home to the Lord and unite him with all the angels and saints in heaven. Those left to mourn him include his wife of 56 years, Isabel (Bessie); daughter Patricia and husband Ron Martinez; sons John and Robert; grandchildren Joseph Martinez, Anita and husband Clayton Crouse, Gabrielle and Elyse Torres; brothers Vicente and wife Lorie and Jose and wife Viola Torres. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Antonio and Dolores Torres and sister Lily Lucero. Orlando was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Korea. Upon discharge, he worked for the New Mexico National Guard, then went on to work for Sandia National Labs, retiring after 35 years. Not being the type to sit around, he worked as a school crossing guard for the next ten years. He was known for his strength of will and loyalty, but his greatest achievement came as a role as a family man. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A catholic mass will be celebrated Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Parish, 8901 Candelaria NE with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
