Orlando Maes, age 93, a resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico and more recently of Albuquerque passed away October 29, 2013 at Casa de Rosa following and extended illness. He was a loving father who was always there for his family and children. He is survived by his spouse of 69 years Lucille Marie Maes of Albuquerque; children Nina and husband Steve Turner of Albuquerque, William and wife Cenaida Maes of Rio Rancho, Michael and wife Cheryl Maes of Las Vegas and Robert and wife Dolores Maes of Albuquerque. Grandchildren, Danny and Rachael Ciddio and children, Santana, Adrina and Orlando of Medford, Oregon, William Maes junior of Phoenix, Arizona and son Juan-Carlos of Albuquerque, Michael Maes junior and wife Katie and children Bammer and Hudson of McKinney, Texas, Christopher Maes of Las Vegas, Nevada, Melissa and husband Paul Maez and children Abie and Faith of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Dawn and Casey Rupley and children Myah and Jacob of Albuquerque, Jessica and Craig Dusseau and son Aiden Dean of Albuquerque, Robert Aaron Maes, of Albuquerque, Melanie and Nathan Schaub and son Noaha of Midland, Texas, Mario Maes and fiancé Whitley Johnson of Albuquerque, Maylann and Taylor Phillips and children Addison, Emily and Tennessee of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Sharon and husband TJ Heinl and children Christian, Vanessa and Taylor of Albuquerque. Survived by ; Brothers Juan and Emma Maes of Albuquerque and Vicente and Angelica of Albuquerque, sisters Theresa and Minder Valdez of Albuquerque and Francis and Gus Lopez of Wagon Mound, New Mexico and many nieces, nephews and friends. Orlando was preceded in death by his mother Amelia and father Jose Maria Maes, brothers Eloy, Margarito and Ben Maes and great granddaughter Jennifer Ann Maes. He was a barber at the El Fidel Hotel in Las Vegas for more than thirty year and then with his loving wife in their home establishment for more than twenty years. Mr. Maes made many long lifetime friendships throughout his career. He was a proud WWII veteran serving in the Army-Air Corps in the China-India-Burma Theater stationed in New Delhi (Mumbai), India. Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 4, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mildred Ave NW, Albuquerque with the Reverend Vincent P. Chavez reciting. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. November 5 at St. Therese with Father Vincent P. Chavez, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Serving as Pallbearers; Danny Ciddio, William Maes junior, Chris Maes, Michael Maes junior, Mario Maes, Robert Aaron Maes with Honorary Pallbearers; Paul Maez, Taylor Phillips, TJ Heinl, Nathan Schaub, Casey Rupley and Craig Dusseau.
