Oreste L. "Rusty" Puccini Sr
February 19, 1921 — December 31, 2015
Oreste (Rusty) L. Puccini, Sr., born in Albuquerque on February 19, 1921, passed away on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2015 at his home, in which he lived 64 years. His beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia Ramona Aragon Puccini, predeceased him. He is survived by his four children, O. Louis Puccini, Jr. and wife Joan, Annette Puccini Crabtree and husband Bob, Larry Puccini and wife Karen, and Richard Puccini and wife Cassie; and his sister, Adelina Puccini Timofeyew, and her daughter Kathy Timofeyew Zimmer; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved and knew him. He hosted annual Holiday luncheons for the entire family to meet and stay in touch.
His parents were Luigi and Iole Bachechi Puccini and his younger sister was Virginia Puccini Doyle.
Oreste served in the Navy from (1941-45) and retired from Sandia National Laboratories. After retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively. He entered the family real estate business, always acting fairly, whose motto was: "not doing to anyone what he would not want them doing to him." He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima church for 64 years and served as usher, a member of the Holy Name Society and participated in many other church organizations, a commitment he took seriously and felt honored to do. He was honored by his Parish and the Archdiocese of Santa Fe for extraordinary service and recently received The 2015 Archbishop's St. Francis of Assisi Award in Santa Fe. He was very generous with his time and resources to the family and his extended family of friends.
His passing leaves an empty place in the family, at his Church and the community, as those who have met him could not help but be impacted by his gentle strength and genuine concern for those he held dear.
Friends may visit FRENCH - Wyoming Wednesday, January 6, 2016, beginning at 6:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 7, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
