Onofre M. (Fred) Horcasitas

Horcasitas, Onofre (Fred) M. Onofre (Fred) M. Horcasitas died peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 after a long illness. He was born on January 1, 1935 in Santa Rita, NM to Julian and Rosaura Horcasitas. Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou; sons, Richard, Steven (Emily), and David (Cuilan); daughter, Barbara Perkins; three grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Max (Lynsey) Horcasitas, Danielle (Justin) LaComb and Natalie Perkins; great-grandson, Jasper LaComb; sister, Virginia Dudley; special nephew, Dennis Salazar; and goddaughter, Aleksandra McCadden. He leaves numerous other loving family members and many friends. He will be dearly missed. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Julian Horcasitas, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Nan Horcasitas; and brother-in-law, Jack Dudley. After many years of dedicated service, including a one year deployment to Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, Fred retired from the New Mexico Air National Guard. The family would like to express its gratitude to Grace Adult Care and Hospice for the care and comfort given to Fred during his long illness. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Burial, with military honors, will take place at 1:30 p.m. the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, .
