Olivia Brooks died peacefully on October 19, 2015 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her sister Vera Muñoz; her daughter Patricia Montoya, and sons Michael Brooks and Earl Brooks, Jr.; her fifteen grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Olivia was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Brooks, her daughters Olivia Loretta Ramirez and Victoria Brooks, her son Carlos Brooks, her brother Pedro, Sr., and her sisters Ocariz Harper, and Eufelia (Mary) Rudison.
Olivia was born and raised in Chilili, New Mexico. She moved to Los Angeles and married Earl Brooks in 1944. Together, they raised their family and lived in Los Angeles until 1994, when Olivia moved back to Chilili with Earl, Michael, and Victoria. Moving from Los Angeles to rural New Mexico was a big change but they enjoyed their time among family and the beautiful clear skies of New Mexico. Olivia will be remembered for her quick wit, her ready smile, and infectious laugh. For those closest to her, she will also be remembered for her dedication to family and her strength of character. She persevered for years despite suffering from many ailments. Olivia enjoyed the abundant family traditions of Chilili.
We wish to thank all of her family and friends for their love, support, and prayers. We especially wish to thank the Gutierrez family of Chilili with heartfelt gratitude for her care and keeping throughout the years: Noe, Eloy, Evaristo, Timoteo, Lena, Pedro, Jr., Placida, Ernestina, Richard, Gilbert, Mela and their spouses.
Services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015, 2:30 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Interment will follow in Chilili, NM. Friends may visit FRENCH - Wyoming on Friday, October 23, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
