Olga Metzger

d. November 1, 2002

Olga Metzger passed away on November 1, 2002 from natural causes in Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Frances Bazant, and her husband, Harold Charles Metzger Sr.

Olga was born in Illinois in 1915. She grew up in Chicago during the roaring 20's, the Great Depression, and prohibition eras and had many fascinating and witty stories about these periods in time.

On a blind date, the young Bohemian beauty met Harold Charles Metzger, a handsome young Chicago cop who had also been a private in the U.S. Army during WWII. They fell in love, married, and had one child, Harold Charles Metzger Jr.

In 1944, the couple moved to Albuquerque with their young son. Olga was well known as a talented hairdresser and a master at creating ladies' wigs. She was a great artist and her paintings are still enjoyed today. She was also involved in southwest jewelry and other southwest creations, often selling at the weekend swap meet at the Albuquerque fairgrounds. At one time, Olga co-owned a store at the plaza in Santa Fe.

Olga was an impeccable housekeeper and always took great pride in her appearance and fashionable clothing. She was loved and admired by her many friends and family and left behind her grieving son, Harold Jr. and his wife.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Interment alongside her husband will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m
