Odella Medina

Odella Ruiz Medina, age 90, of Raton NM, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 7:30 a.m. in Albuquerque, NM. She was born December 24, 1922 in Dawson, NM, the daughter of Filiberto and Virginia Coleman Ruiz. Odella's occupation was as a secretary at KRTN radio station in Raton, and at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance in Albuquerque. Her last job was with AFL CIO Hod Carriers Union in Albuquerque, when she suffered a heart attack and stroke in 1968. Odella was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Medina; and her brothers, Filiberto "Squeeze" Ruiz of Santa Fe, and Frank Ruiz of Raton. She is survived by her sister, Mary Cardenas of Albuquerque; sister in laws, Esther Ruiz of Santa Fe and Rosamond Ruiz of Raton; four children, Michael Ernest Acevedo of Missouri, Patricia Coleman of Albuquerque, John Author Acevedo of Los Lunas and Virginia Eloise Acevedo of Denver; grandchildren, Carla Baade and husband Darren of Gallup, Brian Davis, John Victor Acevedo and wife, Selena Acevedo Blake and husband, and Vincent Acevedo, all of Albuquerque, Monica Velarde of Denver; and ten great grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH-Wyoming. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.
