Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Violet Westerfeld; brother, Art Westerfeld; and sisters, Juanita (Nita) Ports and Violet (Sissy) Birrell.
Norm was born June 8, 1935. He took pride in telling everyone he was born in Five Points, NM later to become part of Albuquerque.
Norm was a self-made man who started from very poor beginnings. He started working at nine years old to help support his family and from there he never stopped working and taking care of others. A truer, more generous heart than Norm's would be very hard to find. He was always there to lend a hand, to help out, to guide, to mentor all who asked.
Norm began working at Noor Mfg. in April 1959, he became the proud owner in 1988 until his passing. Norm's honesty, integrity and unsurpassed work ethic was respected by one and all who knew him.
Norm was an accomplished machinist, welder, carpenter and all around "Jack of all trades". His ability to make something from nothing, to repair what seemed to be beyond redemption and his unique and practical designs to help make life easier were awe inspiring.
His hobbies included bowling, photography, sporting clays, boating and amateur rock hound. Norm was an avid fisherman and hunter and passed on his passion to his children and grandchildren.
Norm was a life time member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited as well as being a member of NSCA and NMSSA. He was a supporter of 4-H as well as several horse clubs. He coached little league and youth softball as well as attending many, many games to support his children as well as his nephews and nieces.
Norm was a great jokester and prankster. A man with a joke for every situation. No one was safe from his teasing and laughter followed him wherever he went.
Norm was truly a gift from God to his family and friends alike. Kind, generous, loving and giving are just a few words that describe that great and wonderful man.
In the days following his passing his family is hearing over and over...
"Norm was my HERO!"
