Norma Leister

LEISTER, NORMA LEE FRANKFORTA former long-time resident of North Muskegon, MI and Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, due to complications resulting from a heart attack. She was born on December 22, 1925, in Cumberland, MD. Mrs. Leister graduated in 1943 from Springdale High School, Springdale, PA. She worked for several years at Gulf Oil Corporation in Pittsburgh where she met the love of her life, John August Leister. She was active in the community as a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, and PTA member. Also she owned the Boutique of Treasures, a children's clothing store in Lansing, MI. Her hobbies included gardening, collectible glassware, and arts and crafts. Married on September 1, 1945, throughout almost 60 years of marriage, she was a devoted wife and loving mother. She is survived by four children and their families: Diana Lee Miller of Whitehall, MI, and her children, Ryan and Misty; John C. Leister, his friend, Kay, and his children, John and Chad of North Muskegon, MI; Gerald A. Leister, his wife, Chau, and his children, Jeremy and Sean of Rio Rancho, NM; and Marsha Ann Ray and her children, Justin and Skyler of Okemos, MI. She also has five great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Corbin, Olivia, Jordyn, and Jon. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, with Msgr. Douglas Raun, celebrant. Norma Lee Leister, the wife of a World War II veteran, will be reunited with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The burial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, November 21, 2012.
