Norma Giaquinto, age 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on December 13, 2021. Born Norma Raimondo on May 17, 1935, she lived in New York and moved to Rio Rancho in 1988.
Norma lived in the Bronx where she met the love of her life, Louie, at age 16. She worked in a clock maker's store in Manhattan before marrying Louie. Norma dedicated her life to raising her four girls. When her own daughters were grown, she devoted her days to caring for many of her grandchildren.
Norma enjoyed being surrounded by her family with song and laughter. She often celebrated her birthday with a great 80's party. Norma was a big Elvis fan. One year, she even got to dance and sing with an Elvis impersonator for her birthday. Norma loved watching All My Children, Say Yes to the Dress, and movies like Ghost, Selena, and Grease. She enjoyed dancing, songs from the 80's, and country music, but most importantly she enjoyed being around children. Norma would always say it was taking care of the grandchildren that kept her young.
Norma is loved and is survived by two sisters, Phyllis and Patricia; her four daughters, Alberta (Bill) Pedro of Hopewell Junction, NY, Louise Giaquinto of Rio Rancho, Norma (Jack) Vigilante of Rio Rancho, and Frances (Eugene) Chavez of Rio Rancho; as well as 12 grandchildren; and soon to be 10 great-grandchildren.
Norma is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Louis Giaquinto; as well as two sisters and three brothers.
