Norbert "Bert" Weil

Norbert "Bert" Weil, age 61, a life-long New Mexican, died on June 30, 2016 after years of battling early onset Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 12½ years, Michelle; sister, Debbie Stuyvesant and husband, Jeff; children, Brandie Leyba and husband Diego, Jeremiah Weil and wife Kassi, Sean Murray and wife Sara, David Murray and David Richardson; grandchildren: Michael, Julian, Daniel, and Damien; nieces and nephews, Rachel and husband, Spencer and their children Rylee and Eli, Joshua and wife Becca, Lucas, Zachary; and many friends.
Bert was born in 1954 in Taos, NM and graduated from Del Norte High School, Class of 1972. After graduation he attended Eastern New Mexico University where he received his Automotive Repair Certification. He later received his Master Automotive Technician Certification. Bert moved to Brownsville, TX, then Colorado Springs, CO and later to Hobbs, NM where he owned MPI Automotive. Upon moving to Albuquerque, Bert owned My Wife's Garage before going to work for Bixby Electric for several years. His best friend, Eric Shelton, introduced him to his wife in 1998. Bert married Michelle Linda Murray on December 23, 2003. Bert and Michelle lived in Tampa, FL from 2004-2006 where he worked for Busch Gardens as a children's ride mechanic. They returned to Albuquerque to be closer to his children and grandchildren in 2006.
Bert was extraordinarily generous and giving of his time and talents. He was willing to help anyone who needed him, even strangers. His heart was huge and he was loved by many. He was a Renaissance man who could do anything with his hands, whether it was automotive or home repair. Bert loved the outdoors, the ocean, and nature. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming.
