Nora (Sanchez) Garcia

Nora Olivia Sanchez Garcia beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and spouse, was called to her eternal resting place on Friday, May 5, 2023. She entered this world on Wednesday, July 12, 1939 in Palo Verde, NM, born to Samuel and Altagracia Sanchez. Nora was raised with her six brothers - Rufino, James, Benito, Sam, Aron, and Truman in the Hondo Valley. She went to college at New Mexico Highlands University and New Mexico State University, and became an elementary school teacher and principal. In December 1970, Nora married Delbert A. Garcia of Santa Rosa, NM. Together, they raised two daughters - Victoria and Savina. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Altagracia Sanchez; her husband, Delbert Garcia; and brothers Rufino Sanchez and Sam Sanchez.

Nora was a lifelong educator and loved teaching. She had fond memories of her favorite students. In retirement, she continued tutoring and teaching students in Albuquerque. She loved her brothers dearly. Nora took great care of and loved her girls, daughters - Victoria and Savina, and her grand-daughter, Alicia.

A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, 9:30 am at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church (5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM), with reception to follow.
