Nicholas Milligan, a former communication specialist and crypto specialist in the United States military, passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday, April, 15 2023. He was born on Monday, January 27, 1941 in Aragon, New Mexico.
Nicholas served in the military from Sunday, November 3rd, 1963 to Thursday, November 10th, 1966, specializing in communication, and as a crypto specialist SP4-E4(T). He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksman (Rifle) Medal for his dedicated service.
Nicholas was a graduate of Western School for Secretaries in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he majored in junior accounting and graduated in August 1963. He was also awarded a Certificate of Award from Ernie Pyle Jr. High School.
In addition to his military and academic achievements, Nicholas was an accomplished athlete. He fulfilled the requirements for a basketball scholarship from 1956 to 1957 and received a letter of award from Rio Grande High School. He also received the school letter in football for the season of 1959 from Ernie Pyle Jr. High School and a letter award from Rio Grande High School.
Nicholas was a Roman Catholic and will be remembered for his kindness, mentorship, and role-modeling. He had a positive impact on the lives of those around him and will be greatly missed.
Nicholas Milligan is survived by sisters, Lily Bear, Ida Ahmazai, and Eva Tordi; brothers, Charles Milligan and Abraham Milligan; god daughter, Mary-Margaret Hoefer-Milligan: great-nieces, Destiny Milligan and Aryanna Hoefer-Milligan; and great-nephew, Donivan Milligan. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023, followed by a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Nicholas will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Rest in peace, Nicholas, and thank you for your service and contribution to society.
