Nicholas G. Durka

Nicholas Durka, 72, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015. Nick was born in Long Branch, New Jersey. He was known for his love of music and enjoyed playing his accordion and drawing. He served in the United States Air Force and is a Vietnam veteran. Nick was a retired Farmers Insurance agent and was also a member of the Civitan Club in Albuquerque for many years.
He is survived by his sister, Marie Durka Abrams and her husband, Robert J. Abrams of Corrales, and his niece and goddaughter, Kelli M. Abrams of Albuquerque. He also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also held dear to Nick's life were his sister-in-law, Susan Bumbico of Howell, NJ and his cousin Jack Shelbrick of Albuquerque. Nick is preceded in death by his wife, Georgine Letts Durka, as well as his parents, Nickolas and Jennie Durka.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside. Interment will take place Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
