With heavy hearts, we share the loss of our beloved and precious Nicholas Thomas Cox. Nick just turned 43 in June and passed peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2021, with his Mom and Walter at his side. He will be missed dearly by his mom, Elizabeth Gwartney Lowney and her husband, Walter; his dad, Wylie (Bucky) Cox and his wife, Christine; his sisters, Shelby Mullins and her husband, Johnny and Jenna Peebles and her husband, Matt; his nieces and nephew, Frankie, Toni, Madison, Ella, and Nate.
Nick's short, beautiful life brought joy and so many smiles to those who were blessed to have met him. We will miss his sparkling blue eyes, ready smile, and great sense of humor. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, country music, police officers, firemen, and firetrucks. When younger, he always had a Walkman and police scanner clipped to his belt. When older, he had his cellphone and clip-on radio. He so loved his music.
Nicholas lived and worked at CARC, Inc. in Carlsbad, NM, for 18 years. His family is thankful for the many years of unselfish care, support, and love the staff at CARC provided. Nick called CARC his home and all the residents and staff were family to Nick and us.
A Celebration of Life with family and with Nick's friends from CARC will take place in November.
Our family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made, in loving memory of Nicholas, to CARC through their donation website/link below. In the section "Select a Designation," please choose "Special Needs Fund," this will ensure that the money goes to Nick's friends that do not have family or money to help with their needs.
