Born Nelle Yvette Taylor May 8, 1923 to Marie L Schumacher and Hilton C Taylor of Bloomington/Normal, Illinois - passed away peacefully March 25 2024.
Nelle married Steward McElravy in 1947, had two daughters, Leslea and Robin, and helped Stew develop a successful insurance agency in Denver Colorado. Steward died in 1988 but Nelle continued with this chapter of her life and was very active in her Church, social and fraternal services. One of her favorite organizations was the Denver Kawanis Club and its role in the Denver community.
In 1992 Nelle reconnected with an old family friend - Robert Conway - accepted his proposal - moved to Albuquerque and became Mom to five more daughters and one son. Bob and Nelle started the second chapter working and travelling together with the Friendship Forces, the CCC Alumni Association and, for the next twenty years, continued the association with the Kawanis Club of Albuquerque. With her caring soul and creative spirit, she was a natural leader, an organizer and partner. She was fun to be with and will be missed. One of her ambitions was to see her 100th birthday.
Nelle will be interned in Denver with Steward, the first love of her life.
Any remembrances can be directed to the Kawanis Charitable Foundation Inc., PO Box 21518, Albuquerque, NM 87154.
