Naomi "June" Gregg

Naomi June Gregg, age 93, beloved center of our family, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 29, 2016. She passed away peacefully at home as she wished after a short illness, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
June was born in Corbin, Kentucky, to a railroader's family and had a strict religious upbringing which she carried with her throughout her life. From this small town June went on to a certificate program in business, worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C., during World War II, and later retired from the federal government after a long career with the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
When her father transferred to Albuquerque with the railroad, June and her sister Dorothy followed where they met their future husbands and established their families. While managing a marriage, household, and career, June raised five sons and helped with raising her grandchildren. She now has seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
June enjoyed maintaining a nice home and spruced up every day even in retirement, true to her childhood nickname "Spruce." She was generous to a fault and would go out of her way to help her family and long-time friends in any way she could. June was lively and had an easy, warm smile, and was known for her holiday dinners and backyard get-togethers that attracted extended family year after year, including this past season.
June was healthy and strong throughout her life and lived independently until the very end. She showed us how to live with faith and personal discipline and a philosophy that nothing could get her down. June was a staunch defender of her boys and wanted only the best for her family.
June is survived by her sons, John and wife Mary, Steven, and Les; grandchildren, John Gregg IV, Lisa and husband Jaime, David, Jeffrey and wife Danielle, Juli and partner Bobby, Rebecca and fiancé Rich, and Lauren and partner Matt; great-grandchildren, John Gregg V, Josh, AJ, Ashton, Madailein, Olivia, Audrey, and Alexa; and sister, Geneva and many cherished nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack; sisters, Dorothy and Margie; husband, John I. Gregg of 61 years; and sons, Mike and Jeff.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, 9:30 a.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. A funeral and graveside service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. The family would like to thank French and Kindred Hospital for the care they provided for our mother.
