Nancy R. Dow

Nancy Ruth Dow, was called to her eternal resting place on November 20, 2018 at age 69. She was surrounded by family and loved ones, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from Highland High School in 1967. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Everett Dow and Joline Lease, and her son, Aaron Bigbie. She is survived by her loving daughter, Melanie Chiado and husband, Haymish; granddaughter, Staff Sargent Mikayla Gallegos stationed in Japan; granddaughters, Megan Gallegos and Miranda Gallegos of Los Lunas, NM. Nancy is also survived by her brother, Rick Dow and wife, Carol of Santa Rosa Valley, CA, sisters Kathy Dow Wilson of Albuquerque, NM and Barbara Mathias of Waxahachie, TX, numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family of relatives, and friends

Nancy loved traveling, outdoor activities such as running Half-Marathons in San Diego, fishing, water sports, gardening and reading. Nancy had a great love of animals and she shared her time volunteering at animal shelters and enjoying time with her grandchildren when their interest turned to horse rescue. They enjoyed hiking in the foothills here in Albuquerque along with Nancy's loyal dog Holly, and long walks on the beaches while traveling in southern California. Words can't describe the love she had for her grandchildren and many lifelong friends.

In spite of Nancy's health issues Nancy maintained a positive outlook on life. She was never without her fun-loving spirit and her hilarious sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018, 3:00 pm. at FRENCH - University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Reception following memorial.
