Nancy Glasscock Baker, 86, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 29, 2017.
Nancy was born in Holliday, Missouri, the youngest daughter of Frank and Nancy Glen Glasscock. She grew up on the family farm in Holliday. After graduating from high school, Nancy and her sister, Louise moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri where she met the love of her life, Norman Baker. She and Norman were married in June 1953. They had been happily married for 55 years at the time of Norman’s death in 2008. Norman and Nancy moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1959 when Norman and several other graduates from the University of Missouri were hired by Sandia National Laboratory. Nancy and Norman remained life-long friends with the “Missouri Group” as they fondly called them. Nancy was passionate about her Lord, her church, and her family. She also loved to cook and sew for her family and friends and she loved to play board and card games of all kinds. Her strength and spirit of enthusiasm will live on in the lives of the many people she has touched during her time on earth. She showed love and compassion to everyone who crossed her path. Her kind and gentle spirit were evident to anyone who was blessed to come into her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; and her husband. She is survived by her sons, Allan Baker and wife, Julie; Stuart Baker and wife, Diane; daughter, Linda Perez and husband, Joseph; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life on earth and her new life in heaven will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Sombra del Monte Christian Church, 2525 Vermont St. NE in Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, at www.diabetes.org.
