Murphy John Landry died peacefully in his home in Albuquerque, NM on Monday, November 19, 2012, at the age of 79. He was born October 12, 1933 in Andrew, LA. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly Anne Hebert Landry; their six children; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and many extensive family members including his sisters and brother. He was a veteran of the Air Force and went on to complete a PhD in physics, eventually retiring in 1988, from his career at Sandia National Laboratories. He relished life, with a sense of adventure that encompassed a love of the simple things: nature, camping, rock hounding, and he was a master of many trades, from macramé to genealogy research in writing his memoirs. Giving a jar of figs was a big deal to him. He could even make the rinds of a watermelon taste sweet. By the grace of God, from the dry roots of his humble beginnings he became a heart as big as the star-studded skies, giving help and guidance. His shoulders became broader as he willingly helped others carry their burdens. He was there, no matter what. He loved in his fashion, living his way, with perseverance and tenacity. In his own words: "I credit my father for breaking this mold for me... I was destined to find Beverly Anne Hebert to accept 'My Dream' and make it 'Her Dream' daring to walk the walk I chose... She became my soul mate in my journey of creating a family with the help of God that mimicked the values of our ancestors; that of steadfastness, determination, single-mindedness of purpose to explore into the unknown of our tomorrows and know that we could prevail... Maybe some of my desire to search was instilled in my children... to fulfill 'Their Dreams'... I have come to the present end of my memoirs." Rosary will be recited Sunday, November 25, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Friends may visit beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 26, 2012, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2532 Vermont St. NE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
