Muriel Ledwith

Muriel, 85, passed away after a long illness on Monday, November 4, 2013 to join her beloved husband, Jim, in heaven. They were married for 60 years before he passed away in 2007 on this same date. She is survived by her son, John Ledwith and wife, Linda; her daughter, Ann Melloy and husband, Nick; grandchildren, Kevin Ledwith and wife, Milly, Jan English and husband, Jay, Chris Melloy and wife, Tammy, Lisa Lawrence and husband, James, and Ryan Melloy; and eight great-grandchildren. Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents, Victor and Lydia; brother, William; and grandson, James. During her extended health care challenges, Muriel was given comfort, support, love and amazing care from Wanda Rodriquez, Geri Saavadra, and Jeannette Gutierrez to whom our family is eternally grateful. Muriel was a long-time member of Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community and in recent years John XXIII Catholic Community. She was a very talented seamstress who worked for a prestigious NY dress designer. When Muriel's children were younger, she was a very active leader in both Boy and Girl Scouts. She and her husband, Jim, moved to Albuquerque in 1973, where she worked at Montgomery Ward for many years. Muriel loved to mentor other women in sewing, knitting, and needlepoint. She also enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband, Jim. Muriel was an avid bowler and also enjoyed bingo. Her most important priority was her family who will dearly miss her. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, November 6, 2013, 7:00 pm at French - Wyoming, with visitation one hour prior from 6:00-7:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 7, 2013, 11:00 am at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr NE, with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the James Ledwith Memorial Scholarship through the Albuquerque Community Foundation at in honor of her grandson.
