Monica Renee Trujillo-Willis

Monica Trujillo-Willis, 49, of Albuquerque, NM passed away September 10th 2022, surrounded by family, after a two year long battle with cancer.
Monica was born in Albuquerque, NM on March 15th 1973. The oldest daughter of Bernice Trujillo and Benny Brown, she was raised alongside her younger sisters Veronica Trujillo and Nashiela Brown in the Northeast heights area of the city. Monica was a devoted mother and raised five daughters (Brittany Davis, Monquisha Coleman, Monay Willis, Auzrielle Willis-Chavez, and Iyana Willis) with ex husband Frank Willis.
Triumphing through the challenges of young parenthood, and being the self taught and hard worker that she was; Monica earned her associates degree in Liberal Arts from Central New Mexico Community College. Then later she became the first person in the family to earn a Bachelor's Degree and graduate Summa Cum Laude . She earned her Bachelor's in Science and Dental Hygiene from the University of New Mexico in 2005. She enjoyed her career and worked as a hygienist at various dental offices around the state from 2005 to 2021.
Not only was Monica highly intelligent and determined, but she was very much family oriented and loved spending time with her seven grandchildren (Tierra Sims-Chavez, Aurora Davis, Lindaer Olivier Jr., Soleil Aranda, Norah Chavez, Theo Chavez, and Ayanna Davis.) She was always supportive of her many nephews and nieces. She would be sure to attend sporting and school events, and concerts. She loved to take family trips. Monica could make a friend anywhere she went and her laugh and smile was contagious. She was a lot of fun to be around, an avid music lover and was a fan of just about any sport or competition.
She was a cornerstone to our family and her powerful energetic spirit will be missed. The family will do our best to maintain her traditions and honor her life and the admirable legacy she left on Earth.
