Mona Baca-Masse (1947-2024) passed away on Tuesday, February 27, at the age of 77. Born on May 16, 1947 in Carrizozo, NM to Angelita Telles Baca and Juan Bautista Baca, Mona moved to Albuquerque as a young adult and lived most of her adult life there. She spent most of her career working in healthcare, notably histology and cytology laboratories first as a technician and later as a supervisor and manager.
Married to her sweetheart, Stuart Masse for 29 years, Mona enjoyed outdoor adventures, traveling and spending time with family. She and Stuart met at a Valentine's party Mona hosted.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her siblings, Josephine Mirabal, Juan Baca, Antonia Leeper, Beatrice Walton, Rose Raney, and Regina Baca. She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Setasha Bybee; son-in-law, David Bybee; grandchildren, Samantha White and Joseph Pettit, great-grandchildren, Bradley White and Liliana White; siblings, Juan Jose Baca, Pablo Arturo Baca, and Juan Ramon Baca; several nieces and nephews including, Olivia Baca, Jessica Cammarata, Felipe Mirabal, Angela Hengst, and Yvonne Montoya; and many, many dear friends.
Services will be held to honor and celebrate Mona on Saturday, March 9, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a Rosary followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo, 1818 Coal Place SE, with burial at 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
