Milburn Ray Moore was a musician, a singer, a professional photographer, a poet, a writer, a humorist, a lover of words, an outdoorsman, a dedicated family man and a follower of Jesus Christ. He was remarkable for knowing the date of just about anything that ever happened. With a wonderful voice and a wicked sense of humor, “Mil” entertained most who knew him.
He was born in Lamesa, Texas in 1934 and attended grade school and high school in Clovis, NM. He graduated from Hardin Simmons University and later attended Southwestern Theological Seminary. He was director of music for the First Baptist Church in Artesia, NM, and First Baptist Church, Childress, Texas. He was the Church Music Secretary for the Baptist Convention of New Mexico. During that time, he founded the Inlow Music Camps. He was an agent for Horace Mann Educator’s Insurance for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his son, Alan Moore and wife Colleen, of Amarillo, TX and Houston, TX; son Brian Moore of Albuquerque, granddaughter Kindell Buchanan and husband Kyle, of Nashville, TN; grandson, Connor Moore, of Houston, TX; and sister, Barbara Hughes, of Clovis, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, F.E. and Ivy Moore, and his brother, Billy D. Moore.
The family wishes to thank Roadrunner Hospice and Sandia View Assisted Living for their loving care for Mil.
