Mike Trodoux, age 73, a resident of Edgewood, New Mexico, since 1997, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at his home after a two-year battle with lung cancer.
He is survived by his spouse of 28 years, Susan; children, Michelle Trodoux and Mark Trodoux of Beaverton, Oregon, Laura Hanson and husband Jason of Vancouver, Washington, Renee Thompson and husband Logan of Ridgefield, Washington; stepchildren, Amber Culverhouse and husband, Charles of Salem, Wisconsin, and Bryan Billedeaux and Danielle of Albuquerque, New Mexico,; eight grandchildren; Jace, Brynna, Macy; step-grandchildren, Maddy, Preston, Kayden, Brooklyn, and Lilly; cousins, in Belgium and France; extended family and many friends in New Mexico, Ohio, and the Pacific Northwest. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert and mother, Denise.
He was born in Namur, Belgium on Friday, October 15, 1948, and immigrated to the United States at age 14, after living in the Democratic Republic of Congo for several years. Mike graduated from Wilson High School, and attended Multnomah College where he studied Electronics. He was proud to have served two tours of duty in the United States Air Force. Mike flew C-130s and later earned a private pilot license. He was a General Contractor by trade since the early 1970s and completed both commercial and residential projects in the Pacific Northwest and New Mexico. Throughout his life, Mike enjoyed time with family and friends, boating, camping, and hunting. He was a special friend to so many people over the years, and also loved his dogs, Smokie, Yogi 1 and 2, Bear, and Lucy.
A member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for a number of years, Mike served as Flotilla Commander, Vessel Inspector, and Boat Crew. He received many awards for his leadership and participation.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10:00am at Bethel United Methodist Church, 2700 NM 333, Moriarty, New Mexico, and a Memorial Service with Military Honors and internment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Portland, Oregon at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, 1301 West 1st Street Suite E1, Granite City, IL 62040.
