Michael A. Williamson, born 3/5/1942, passed away 6/28/2024
Michael is survived by wife, Mabel; daughters Veronica and partner, Scott; Carmen and partner, Matthew; sisters, Mary Edgar, and Ann Buck and husband, Patrick; along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, John Paul and Mary Frances; brothers, David and Bruce.
Michael was an accomplished writer, author, photographer, herpetologist, and naturalist. Michael was a University of New Mexico alumnus, former Curator of Birds and Reptiles at the Rio Grande Zoological Park, a co-founding member of the New Mexico Herpetological Society, also serving as President a time or two of NMHS, a former Science/Biology teacher with Albuquerque Public Schools, and Wagon Mound NM. Michael was an avid angler, spending countless childhood hours fishing with his beloved grandfather, Dutch (Founder and member of the Rio Grande Sewer-House Ditch Catfish Fishing Society). Also, Mike aided in the 1970 Gila Trout Rescue Mission and was involved in a number of conservation group projects.
Michael loved his wife and hitas and told them every chance with "Loves", and "Call me when you get home".
