Michael G. Wheeler passed away at age 72, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 3:30 p.m., in the presence of his family, High Dessert Hospice, and his beloved wife, Sherry Wheeler.
Born October 26, 1949, to Sofia and Richard Wheeler in Torrance California. Michael was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He struggled for many years with COPD from Agent Orange drops where he was fighting the enemy. Life soon became his own enemy after the war. Struggling with PTSD, health issues, and trying to fit into normal life. He was a good son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, and advocate for other veterans. Michael's struggles in life helped him to become someone that so many looked up to, as he was always willing to help others navigate their way into a better direction. His legacy will always be remembered for what he has done with his family and friends, his country, and just complete strangers that needed help.
Michael loved the lake and enjoyed the outdoors with his boat, where he resided at Navajo Lake near Farmington NM. He loved riding Harleys, was a life member of the Combat Vets M.C., and loved Arrowhead hunting in the hills.
He loved all creatures from God: dogs, cats, lizards, fish, large game, and small game, did not matter.
In his last years, he was Politically driven as he was home bound and "had nothing better to do" in his words. His Picture Collages for birthdays, holidays, and just positive note days, will be Missed
To have gone through, what Michael has gone through, he is Definitely one of God's Soldiers.
Romans 13:4
For he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Wheeler; mother, Sofia Wheeler; sisters, Christine Wheeler, and Linda Sabatucci; daughter, Christina Wheeler; son, Patrick Wheeler, (Leslie Wheeler); and five grandchildren, Evan Wheeler, Mia Wheeler, Sofia Wheeler, Kristiana and Alejandra Sias.
