Treviso, Michael Joseph
Beloved son, brother, fiancé, and friend, Michael Joseph Treviso, age 34, a true gift to all our lives, passed away suddenly Thursday, June 1, 2017, after being treated three weeks and three days in the hospital for a rare form of colon cancer. Born in Albuquerque on July 22, 1982, as a young boy, he enjoyed Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and participating in the Rio Rancho Soap Box Derby, winning 3rd place. He also enjoyed singing in the Albuquerque Boy Choir, performing in Washington, DC, and Hawaii. Michael attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School and graduated from St. Pius X High School in 2000, lettering in varsity football and wrestling. Michael attended Arizona State University and the University of New Mexico, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Anderson School of Management in 2010.
Michael was known for his gentle essence, calm presence, enthusiasm for life, and loving nature. An inventor, builder, gardener, baker, and teacher, he thrived as a Master Technician at Independent “Volvo” Service for 14 years. Mike loved to give joy as much as he received it. He loved and was grateful for every moment he spent with his family, friends, teachers, buddies, co-workers, and acquaintances. He is survived by his beloved fiancée, Tish Simms; his beautiful family, parents, Nancy and Joe Treviso; and sister, Sarah Treviso. He also leaves many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles, including Lydia and Jerry Winsemius of Albuquerque, Charlie and Helen Grommesh of Fargo, ND, and Lucy and Leo Maestas of Hernandez, NM. Also deeply touching his life were David Lang, George Thornburgh, Jason Flores, Steven Butz, Adam Powell, Cody Britton, and Amber Pope. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Marvel and Harold Grommesh and Geneva and Ignacio Treviso; and aunt, Martha Kline. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6, at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – University, 1111 University NE, Albuquerque. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 7, at 10:15 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW, Albuquerque. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park at 924 Menual Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, 87107.
