Michael Glen Haley was born in Denver, Colorado on Friday, September 5, 1958, and passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 in Albuquerque, New Mexico surrounded by his loving wife and family whom he loved dearly. The son of Glen and Carol Haley, Michael was a strong willed, opinionated, kind, bighearted, jokester, but most of all loving soul who would do anything for his family and friends.
Mike was a loving son, brother, uncle and great uncle who loved to tease his siblings as well as his nieces and nephews, especially about their little dogs. Then he would turn around and fill them with as many sweets as he could find. His favorite sayings were “Now that’s funny!” “I am what I am!” and “I can find someone to take care of that!" He raised tropical fish and loved to fish and go crabbing. Michael was also a model train enthusiast.
Michael was proud to follow in his father’s footsteps to become a brother of the Freemasons Harmony Lodge #18 in Toms River, New Jersey, and served on many projects they completed. Michael was also a member of the Masonic Kilties. Michael was excited to follow his mom’s career path into becoming a realtor in Toms River for many years.
After Michael and Cathy lost everything in Hurricane Sandy, they picked themselves up and started a new life in Hagerman, New Mexico, to be near and care for Cathy’s family. It was a challenge he wholeheartedly loved with new adventures around every corner. He loved just driving around and exploring new places. The family was very fortunate to have been with him at his passing.
Michael is survived by his soulmate and loving wife, Cathy Thatcher Haley; his parents, Glen and Carol; his two sisters, Jeanne Stone and Janet Lally; brothers-in-law (brothers), George Stone and Don Lally; his two step-children, Jennifer and Shawn Snyder; nieces, nephews and grand-nieces, Ashley, Matthew, Emily, Krista, Logan, Kaylee, Ashton, Harper and Mason.
A special Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, 3:00 p.m. at the Harmony Lodge #18, 110 Route 37 West, Toms River, New Jersey, 08755, and then his ashes will be returned to the Colorado mountains, a place he loved so much to soar with the Eagles. Friends and family are encouraged to attend the ceremony or to post messages to a page setup for sharing on Mike Haley, Facebook page.
