Michael Wilson passed away peacefully on November 14, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Maria Picchi; children, Jonathan and Francesca; brother, John; and abundant extended family members. Michael was an internationally recognized scientist and an invaluable faculty member in the Department of Neurosciences at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. A scrappy and critical intellect in the tradition of a boy from Brooklyn, he was an inimitable character who will be truly missed. His loss has generated an unfillable void for the family and friends who loved him. Michael had a passion for hiking, sailing, scuba diving, salsa dancing and attending Lobo soccer games. His enthusiasm was an inspiration to all who celebrated life with him. A memorial service will be held in December to honor Michael's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ocean Conservancy at or KUNM at kunm.org.
