Michael Bernal

Michael Bernal, 70, beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and Grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He entered this world on September 8, 1953, in Santa Fe, NM, born to Dalio and Rose Bernal. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bernal; his daughters, Melissa Maechtlen (Jacob) and Melinda Cordova (Jose); stepdaughter, Kimberly Gross (Brian); and sisters, Virginia, Madeline, Patsy, Sandra, Mary and their families. Michael enjoyed his grandchildren, Tyler, Angelo, Mason, Emma, Max, Addison, and Camden.

Michael grew up in Albuquerque, NM. He proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1974-1979. He retired from the US Forest Service after many years of service. He often played pool at the senior center and had a passion for cars and Spanish music.

Michael will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will be remembered for his generosity and his kindness to those in need. A Memorial Rosary will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, 9:00 a.m., at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 3424 4th St. NW, with a reception to follow.
