Mia S. Prieskorn, age 79, born March 26, 1942, in Albuquerque, NM was welcomed into the arms of our Lord September 2, 2021. She was born March 26, 1942, in Albuquerque, NM, the daughter of Donald L. Swanson and Betty (Houk) Swanson.
Mia may have been born in Albuquerque, but she was raised in beautiful Las Vegas, NM. She graduated from Robertson High School of Las Vegas, the Class of 1960. Following graduation, she attended UNM and New Mexico Highlands University. Mia spent 20+ years working for Chevron and was also a successful entrepreneur throughout her life. Later in life, Mia found the love of her life, Ronald Prieskorn. They were happily married for 14 years before Ron passed away.
Mia was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Peace Episcopal Church in Las Vegas, where she spent time volunteering and was a member of the Board. When she moved back to Albuquerque in 2017, she found her new home at St. Francis Episcopal Church. During her time there, she found her calling to help with the Diocese of the Rio Grande.
Mia loved to travel and entertain family and friends. She was a long-time active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. If you tried calling her on a Friday afternoon, she was always busy playing dominoes with the girls. Mia was always artistically talented; she enjoyed her time making handmade cards to send to someone in the need of cheering up. Mia always had a smile on her face and cute little joke to tell. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Prieskorn and her brother, Richard L. Swanson. She is survived by her son Bo Prieskorn and wife, Tracey Prieskorn and grandchildren Austin and Mason Prieskorn, and Seth and Clay Prieskorn.
