Merton H. Brooks was called home to Jesus, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM having recently celebrated his 95th birthday. He was born in South St. Louis on June 25, 1922 to Albert S. Brooks and Rosemary (Kurtz) Brooks. Merton is survived by his niece, Sandra Davis and her daughter, Stacy Davis.
In high school Merton was a good student in math, science, social studies and literature. He attended Indiana University and graduated with a BS in Chemistry and an AM in Chemistry. His college years were interrupted by WWII, where he served in the Army in the USA, England, France and Belgium. He returned to college and graduated in Physical Chemistry at Washington University in x-ray crystallography. He attended Niagara University with a graduate degree in Metallurgy and attended Oakland University with an undergraduate degree in accounting.
Merton had the opportunity to work as a Senior Research physicist at Tam Ceramics, as a Research chemist at General Motors Research Labs, and as a process engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. He also worked as a consultant in Microwave – ceramic processing at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Emerson Electric Company and General Motors Corporation.
Merton loved and served the Lord. He will be missed by friends and church family in St. Louis, MO, Isleta and Albuquerque, NM. A reception will be held at FRENCH – Wyoming on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.
