Merlene Krall

d. January 1, 2017

Merlene Krall, age 81, encircled by the love of her family and friends, completed her life's journey on January 1, 2017.

Merlene was born July 17, 1935 in Cheyenne, WY to John and Wilma Terrill. After spending a happy and adventurous childhood growing up in WY, she left for Woodbury Business College in Burbank, CA. It was there she met and married Frank V. Hines from Boston, MA. In 1957, Merlene and Frank decided to make Albuquerque, NM their home and settled down to raise their family. Frank was employed with Scott Paper Company and Merlene was a dedicated, loving mother. Merlene loved people!! She was comfortable being the "center of attention" but she also knew how to be a good listener when you needed her. She made friends easily and kept them throughout her lifetime. Her personality and love for life would fill up a room as soon as she entered it. In February 1985, Merlene married Rudy Krall. They shared the love and challenge of competing at duplicate bridge and enjoyed traveling around the Southwest competing in bridge tournaments. Merlene became a bridge Life Master and Rudy became a Diamond Life Master. Their partnership in love and bridge lasted until Rudy's recent passing in June of 2016.

Merlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy Krall; and grandson, Ryan Patrick Strosnider. She is survived by her only sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Joe Putnam of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Melinda Hines; sons, Gary Hines (Sofia), Frank Hines (Carol); step-sons, Randy Krall (Karen), Rudy Krall Jr. (Nancy) of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Patrick Hines, Emily Hines, Lucas Hines, Justin Brown (Corinna), Elise Clemens (Jeff), Lucy Krall; great-grandsons, Sterling and Kurtwood Clemens; nieces and nephews, Mike Putnam (Debbie), Joey Putnam, Debbie Coltrinari (Rich); and Teresa Putnam also held a special place in her heart.
