Meredith Berger (known as Mike), 88, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Cousin, was called to his eternal resting place on January 26, 2023. He entered this world on February 11, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, born to Sam and Anna Berger. He is survived by his wife Sally Berger; daughter Amy Berger-Martinez; daughter Faith Phillips (Ron); grand daughters' Maddie and Ivy, cousin Alice Turak, and nieces Annie Faraghan, Susan Biblo Clark, and Michelle Biblo Cutler. Mike is an Army veteran and a retiree of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque.
Mike touched everyone he met. He was kind and generous, a great listener, and deeply cared about people. He was a natural counselor to family and friends. He volunteered in hospice and as an ombudsman after retiring from the VA. He visited people who were homebound, and served with his wife Sally on the Caring committee at Congregation Albert for a long time. He also baked Challah there every week for years, and loved the time he spent with people doing that.
Because Mike was such a foodie, loved to bake and cook, and cared so much about people, please make Memorial donations in Mike's name to the World Central Kitchen or Roadrunner Food bank, in lieu of flowers.
A funeral is being held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery, in the Congregation Albert section.
