Mercie Chavez

Age 76, went to be with the Lord August 28, 2014. Mercie was born October 8, 1937 in Carnuel, NM. She is survived by her son, Juan J. Herrera and wife Beatrice; granddaughter Jazmine; grandsons Louie and Tony; sister Emma Cano; brother Clarence Herrera and his wife Diana. Mercie was preceded in death by her husband Paul Chavez; her parents Jose and Florinda Herrera; brother Pablo Herrera; and sister Dorothy Garcia. She was an avid volunteer with Humanity Quilters and has been a longtime active member of Holy Child Parish, which she dearly loved. Mercie was also in the Womens' Guild and faithfully prayed the Rosary daily. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 6:00 pm, September 2, 2014 at French - Lomas. Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 am, September 3, 2014 at Holy Child Parish, Canuel, NM with burial to follow. Pallbearers will be Tony Baca, Louie Baca, Larry Encarnacion, Linda Gutierrez, Olfimiano Herrera and Jimmy Gutierrez.
