Melvin Sutton

Melvin Conrad Sutton, husband to Mary Salazar Sutton and father to Suzan Castle, Kelly Weiss and Toni Sutton. Born 09/30/1930, went to be with Jesus on 02/27/2025. Melvin was born Newton Iowa and was raised in Kellerton Iowa by his grandparents Nate and Bissie McChesney. Melvin joined the navy December of 1951 and served for four years. He then married Sandra Sharlie Jackson in 1954 - 1975. He was discharged in 1955. Melvin went to college at Iowa State and obtained a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked at Iowa Power and Light for five years and then moved to Las Vegas Nevada to work for Nevada Power Company. Except for a year and a half of time, he remained there for his full career. His passion at the time was boating on Lake Mead. He met Mary in 1986 and gave his heart back to the Lord. They were married 3/21/1987. Melvin and Mary served the Lord and that was their passion. They developed and led a bible study at The Village of Alameda for over 20 years. He also went to bible college and obtained a degree in bible. They built their dream home in Sandia Heights in Albuquerque and lived there for 25 years.

Melvin is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary in 2021 and his daughter Toni in 2011. He leaves behind his daughter Kelly Lynn Sutton Weiss and husband Mark and their three a children Casey and husband Marcus, Bobby and great-granddaughter Kamryn, James and his wife Kelsey and their son Noah James. Suzan Castle and her husband Bill and their two children and grandchildren. He also leaves behind his niece Reva Rausch and her husband Ron and their daughter and her family and many other members of the Sutton family and the Salazar family.
