Melvin Robins

Robins, Melvin Luper Born February 4, 1922 - Died April 29, 2015 Melvin Luper Robins, age 93, died peacefully at home with his two daughters at his side. He is survived by his daughters, Jacquelyn Robins and Joan Robins and spouse, Denise Wheeler. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sue in 2005 after 60 years of marriage. Mel Robins was born in Columbus, OH. He graduated with a law degree from Ohio State University. He married Sue Margolis in February 1945. With their two daughters, they moved to Albuquerque in 1951where his father, Harry Robins, was practicing law. Mel started working for the US Attorney's office and then entered private practice as a plaintiff's attorney. He worked with his friend, Charlie Driscoll, on one of the early cases applying the Bill of Rights to New Mexico. He demonstrated how to practice law with a conscience. He loved opera and enjoyed New Mexico Philharmonic concerts. He was a good, decent, quiet, humble and compassionate man. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015, 10:00 a.m., at Congregation Nahalat Shalom, 3606 Rio Grande NW. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE. His daughters want to thank his many helpers who made his last two years as comfortable and interesting as possible.
