Mel B. Sanchez was born in Albuquerque on May 10, 1938, passed away August 30, 2024, with his loving wife, Edna who has been by his side for 72 years.
Mel is survived by his wife, Edna his daughter Jeanean Mader (husband Ed) daughter Anita Black (husband Larry) son Mel Benny Sanchez Jr., his brother Paul Sanchez.
His grandchildren Melinda Mader, his grandson Ian Black (wife Jennie) Jennie Ollason (husband Jack) Edward Mader (wife Jess), Hayden Sanchez.
Greatgrandchildren, Teryk Singkanati, Jasper, Conrad & Leo Black, Lucy & Isla Ollason, Claire, Bridget, Bernadette Grace and Luke Mader.
His family meant the world to him.
Mel was a devoted husband. He and Edna celebrated their 67th Anniversary in May. Mel & Edna loved to travel, from Spain to Switzerland and across the oceans.
Mel graduated from the University of Maryland. He earned his Masters Degree from George Washington University in Washington DC.
He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 34 Years in various management positions. He also had extensive experience in the construction industry and in 1985 established his own development and construction company.
Mel was a member of the Elks Lodge #461. He was Exalted Ruler in 1991.
Mel served in the United States Naval Reserve in 1955.
The funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 9th at 9:30am at St. Jude Thaddeus Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW.

Ed Mader, Mel Sanchez Jr., Larry Black, Jack Ollason, Ian Black, Teryk Singkanati
Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE
