Meliton was born in 1933 in Maxwell, New Mexico. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1954 and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Meliton lived his life anxiously awaiting the day when he would bow at the feet of Jesus. On September 8, 2021, God granted that desire and called him home. With his lifelong work on earth complete, we know that the first words he heard were these, well done my good and faithful servant, come and share your master's happiness. His life on earth revolved around his love for Christ and his deep love for his bride Dora, with whom he enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Together they dedicated over 50 years as ministers, pointing countless lives to the cross. God honored their unwavering commitment to him, and to each other, by allowing them to step into eternity together holding hands. As a husband, he never stopped romancing the heart of whom he loved, never passing an opportunity to embrace and kiss her. As a father and grandfather, he was the definition of unconditional love. He offered understanding for every situation and forgiveness for every regret. As a Pastor, he was ready to preach the word in season and out of season, with complete patience and a unique ability to speak the truth with love. He will forever be remembered for his profound wisdom, heroic faith, sarcastic humor, love for fishing and his passionate pursuit for the presence of his gracious heavenly father and master.
Meliton was preceded in death by his parents Damien and Natividad Lopez, son David Lopez, and Grandson Adam Casuas. He leaves behind his devoted children: Billy Lopez (Vicky), Theresa Garcia (Luis), Pete Lopez (Laura), Lori Lopez, Irene Herrera (Leonard), and daughter in law Elena Chavez (Carl), as well as 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren who adored him. On days when grief is overwhelming, we will cling to memories of his amazing legacy and find hope in the promise of an eternal reunion.
