Meliton J. Chacon

April 9, 1934 — September 11, 2017

Meliton Chacon, 83, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, went home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Filia. Meliton is survived by his daughter, Suzette and husband Alfonso; daughter, Deborah and husband Gary; granddaughters, JiSan (husband, Shawn), Noel and Zoe; brothers, Isadore and Billy; sisters, Teresa Martinez and Andrea Naranjo; and many other loved ones and friends. Meliton was also preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Nora; brothers, Albert and Adolph; and sisters, Lola Sanchez and Merlinda Chacon.

Meliton proudly served his country. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a civil servant for more than 30 years. Having grown up in Colorado, which he referred to as “God’s country,” Meliton developed a passion for fishing and hunting that he maintained throughout his life. Another of Meliton’s passions was engaging with people in conversation, never having met a stranger. He will be remembered for the love he gave, his generosity, and his quick wit that left everyone with side stitches.

We miss you dearly and will always love and remember you until we meet again by a heavenly stream. Leave some fish for the rest of us!

There will be a Visitation on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Meliton’s life at 2:00 p.m., both at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow.
