WEBER, MELISSA BETH Passed peacefully away at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Melissa was born on July 10, 1978, to Glenn and Marilyn Carter. She grew up in Clovis, New Mexico. Though small town life was not always exciting, Melissa found a way to make Clovis an interesting place to live, learn, and grow. As a child, she attended Zia Elementary and was a well behaved young lady. As an adolescent and teenager, Melissa always looked for adventure and lived life to the fullest. This love of life and excitement made her teen years interesting for her parents, the community, and her friends. After graduating from Clovis High, Melissa pursued a college education. She earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in Family Consumer Sciences Education from Eastern New Mexico University. Melissa met Jason Weber at a dorm party. They quickly became inseparable, and she knew she had met the love of her life. They married on X VI XCIX. The first of her two precious children, Deven, was born on March 13, 2000. Melissa described Deven as a very kind-hearted young man with a sensitive spirit. Even at a young age, he was protective of his mother. She shared a special love with her son and always spoke with pride about his accomplishments in band and school. She saw such wonderful glimpses of the man he will become! A few short years later, Savannah arrived as a birthday gift on Melissa's birthday. This was just one thing they had in common. They enjoyed spending time together doing girl things, crafts, and just sharing their thoughts and ideas. Melissa described Savannah as a sweet person with a sense of humor. She saw a little of herself in Savannah's love of fun and laughter! Both of Melissa's children share their mother's strength and courage! Melissa became a high school teacher in Albuquerque, NM. The majority of her teaching career was at Highland High school. As an educator, she went above and beyond the textbook always coming up with innovative ideas to inspire and teach her students. She taught eight years for APS dividing her time and energy between her students and family. The summers were dedicated totally to her family, and she enjoyed them with maximum energy and enthusiasm! One of Melissa's favorite places was the beach. She enjoyed her toes in the water and her butt in the sand. During football season Melissa could be heard rooting for the Green Bay Packers holding a glass of wine and wearing a cheese head. Melissa enjoyed spending time with friends and family, music, traveling, and working out. Most of all, she was a proud and devoted mother who made her family her priority and put them first in everything she did. Melissa's fight against cancer was short but well fought with a determined warrior spirit. Her mind and spirit stayed strong throughout the battle; she fought like a girl to the end. Melissa was preceded in death by her dad, Glenn Edward Carter; her mother, Marilyn Carter; grandparents, Jack and Louise Carter; granddaddy Dalton May; and aunt, JoAnn Bernhardt. She is survived by her husband, Jason Weber; her two children, Deven and Savannah Weber; and her siblings, James Carter, Debbie Stenstrom and William Carter and his wife, Julie Carter. In addition, she is survived by her grandmother, Louise May; her father and mother-in-law, Gene and Marsha Weber as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Grace Weber; nieces and nephews, Sydney and Kylie Stenstrom, Bradley and Cessna Carter, Autumn and Trysten Weber, and Mason and Jackson Carter; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many cherished friends.
