Melinda Sue Bainter, age 67, passed away Thursday, January 28th, 2016 after a long struggle with cancer. She was born Melinda Sue Copple on July 6, 1948 in Long Beach, CA and grew up in both Long Beach and Belleville, KS. After graduating from Emporia State University, she lived and taught in Salina, KS for many years, before retiring in Bernalillo, NM.
Melinda is most known for her loving nature and passion for child education. In Salina, she taught kindergarten for eighteen years and then served as the director for Morning out for Mom's as part of the Child Abuse Prevention Services. After retiring, she focused her time on her family and four grandchildren, as well as gardening and nature walks near her home in Bernalillo, NM. Melinda was a loving and dedicated mother, wife, and grandmother who will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her husband, Lyman Bainter; daughter Elizabeth Bainter and her spouse, Jennifer Kern; son Chris Bainter and spouse, Samantha Bainter; four grandchildren, Ryley, Ashlyn, Taylor, and Daniel; sister, Paula Delrey, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Coleen Grenier and husband, Frenchy Grenier; father, Raymond Copple and wife, Helen Copple; and sister, Carolyn Tye.
