Mela Candelaria, our strong, dedicated mother, and matriarch of our family, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Mela, whom we in the family called wife, Nana, and mom, was in a way every one's mother. She loved to spoil her family along with anyone she knew with food that she made, cards to brighten their day, and phone calls to see how they are doing.
The need to bring joy to others was never a way to get anything in return, to her, if they have a smile on their face, then that was her reward.
Mela as a wife and mother made sure that her family was always taken care of, with food, clothes, and a sincere sense of worry for their well-being. Her strength and her motivation were her strongest attributes, and something that her family will aspire to maintain in her memory.
She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Silverio "Sil" Candelaria; her three children, Tina Jonas, Rachael Candelaria, and Ed Candelaria; and her grandchildren, Erica Griego and Jordan Jonas. Also touching Mela's life were Rod Jonas and Marq Smith.
