MEDARDO, "MARTY" "MEL" GALLEGOS, JR.Age 70, a life-long resident of Albuquerque passed away Friday, April 12th, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Yvonne Gallegos, daughter Yvette Gallegos of Albuquerque, New Mexico, son Paul Gallegos and wife Sunny of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Tiffany and Michael Gallegos of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Evan and Eden Gallegos of Houston, Texas; sisters and brothers, Chris Hastings, Ruth Gonzales and husband Benny, Cora Chavez and husband Jimmy, Raymond Gallegos and wife Ramona, Dolores Ponce and husband Raymond, Lawrence Gallegos and wife Margaret, Martin Gallegos and wife Connie, Brother-in-Law Phillip Herrera and wife Lydia, and Sister-in-law Sylvia Barnish of Alameda, California. Mr. Gallegos was preceded in death by his parents, Medardo Gallegos, Sr. and Pauline Gallegos, and his brother William Gallegos. Medardo, called "Marty" by friends, enjoyed mariachi music and spending time with his family both at home and around Albuquerque. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Lobos. He looked forward to everyday at his job of 30 years as the South area mail man for Albuquerque Public Schools, where everyone called him "Mel". Marty will be remembered for his humor and his simple lifestyle of looking out for others. He truly touched many lives in a positive and joyful way and will be missed by many. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, April 16th, 2013 at 7pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 Stover Ave SW, with Father Ralph Herrera reciting. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17th at 10am at Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd NE, with Reverend Rob Woodruff officiating.
