Maxine Zotigh went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2013. She is a member of the Santee Dakota Tribe of Nebraska and the San Juan Pueblo Tribe (Ohkay Owingeh) of New Mexico. Her parents are the late Bill Wilson and Anna Cruz and late brother, James Porter and Norman G. Wilson. A native of New Mexico, she resides in Albuquerque with her husband, Ralph Zotigh, a Kiowa of Oklahoma. Their children are Dennis Zotigh of Washington, D.C., Bill Zotigh and Sharon Zotigh of Albuquerque, NM. She has one sister, Ramona Wilson Cross (George) and she is the proud grandmother of Autumn, Lance, Alexia and Kaydee London Zotigh. Maxine graduated from Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. She was selected as Miss Haskell and was active in several organizations. She retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs after 37 years of service. Her interests have included - secretary for state and national officer of the North American Indian Women's Association, New Mexico Council of American Indians, Inc, secretary to the Albuquerque PowWow Club, coordinator for Miss Indian New Mexico Pageant (11years), Gathering of Nations Miss Indian World Pageant (8 years), and an active member of the Albuquerque Indian Baptist Mission. A Wake will be Wednesday, August 21, 2013, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A Service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris St NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
