Maxine (Spradlin) Workman

December 12, 1923 — August 20, 2022

Anne Maxine Workman, 98, of Albuquerque, NM, passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on August 20, 2022. She was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and Christian. She will be greatly missed.

Maxine was born on December 12, 1923, to Arlie and Dessa Spradlin in Edgewood, TX. She was the second eldest of four children to whom she remained close until their passing. Maxine started her own family with husband Henry Manning, with whom she had two children, Jimmy and Marilyn. Maxine was widowed when Henry died serving in the Korean War. As a young, widowed mother in the 1950s, she bravely relocated her family to Albuquerque for a new beginning. It was in Albuquerque where she met her second husband, Ralph Workman, to whom she was married for 56 years until Ralph's passing in 2017. Maxine was affectionally referred to as "Honey" by her family.

Maxine's faith was an essential part of her life. She and Ralph were active at Hoffmantown Baptist Church where they attended services and Sunday School and hosted visiting parishioners. Maxine was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She also loved to read, travel, sew, anything or anyone from Texas, peanut butter, classical music, coffee in bed, beating Ralph at gin rummy, and her dogs, Muffin and Mollipoo. And in her last five years, she loved and appreciated the compassionate caregivers at MorningStar Assisted Living.

In her later years, she suffered the loss of her beloved children, Jimmy and Marilyn, her cherished husband, Ralph, and her sister and best friend, Wanda. Her health declined, but she remained a kind and loving person to everyone around her. With her passing, may we all find comfort that her struggle is over, and she has found rest.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Maxine is survived by her stepdaughter Vickie Aldrich and husband Dan Aldrich; son-in-law Eddie Bentley; grandchildren Rob Bentley and wife Denise Bentley, Anne Manning, Jessica Tracy, and Sam Aldrich and wife Sarah Aldrich; and great-grandchildren Ashton Bentley, Sydney Bentley, and Logan Tracy.
