Maxine Joyce Melbourne

Maxine Joyce Melbourne, 83, passed away peacefully at home after being surrounded by all of her family on Thursday, February 4, 2021.  Maxine was born on Friday, February 12, 1937 to John T.  and Effie Snyder Dunning in Dove Creek, Colorado.  She grew up in Southern Colorado and moved to Albuquerque in 1956 where she met the love of her life, Ralph Melbourne.  They married on Saturday, July 20, 1957 in Cortez, Colorado.  Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter.  She loved reading, traveling, watching football, and always kept up with politics and world events.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, John T. Dunning and Effie Snyder Dunning; her sister, Norma Jeanne Taylor; her husband of 50 years, Ralph Melbourne; and infant daughter, Mary Catherine.  She is survived by her son, Ralph P. Melbourne and wife Regina; daughter, Nancy Archuleta and her husband Gilbert; grandchildren, Amy Guzie and her husband Brian, Michelle Winklepleck and husband Joey, Ralph C. Melbourne and wife Jami, and John F. Melbourne and wife Kaelin; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Dylan, Mercedes, Nila, and Raleigh.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her extended family she gained through their family business, Melbourne Financial.
Maxine was a kind, generous, and gracious woman with a keen sense of humor and sharp memory until the very end of her life.  She had a positive outlook and asked that all who knew her to love one another and to try to do their best to be content in their own lives.  She will be missed and will live in our hearts forever.  Private arrangements have been made through French Funerals in Albuquerque.
