Maxine Kimbrell, 94, passed away on October 10, 2018. She will be missed by her children; daughter, Ellen Weadock and husband, Gary; son, Michael Kimbrell and wife, Jean; and son, James and wife, Pamela. She is survived by five grandchildren, Robert Anderson, Colin Kimbrell, Robin Kimbrell, Stewart Weadock, and Megan Weadock. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, James and Clara Murphy; husband, Jack Kimbrell; daughter, Karol Kimbrell; brother, Raymond; and infant sister, Dorothy.
She was born on November 27, 1923 in Timber Lake, SD during a snowstorm. She attended the University of Missouri at Columbia where she met and married Jack. The couple raised their family in Pullman, WA, where Maxine worked at the Neil Public Library for 17 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Albuquerque, NM and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, then to Sonoma, CA, where they volunteered to feed and house migrant workers. Maxine loved to read, play cards, and work the crossword puzzle. Maxine loved being surrounded by family, was passionate about social issues, and had a sweet tooth for chocolate and donuts.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Westside. A reception will be held at El Pinto from 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 pm. Interment at the Pullman City Cemetery will be held at a future date and arranged by Kimball Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to donate to their local Habitat for Humanity or animal rescue.
