Max Littleton, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1953, died 4 July 2021.
He is survived by his spouse, Janet Beran Littleton of Albuquerque, NM; son, Paul Edward Littleton of Los Alamos, NM; granddaughter, Katelyn Michelle Waggoner and husband, Corey of Amarillo, TX. Max was preceded in death by his father, William Frank Littleton and mother, Etta Mae Littleton; sister Shirley Jean Schmidt and husband John Rogers Schmidt; and his son, Rodney Alan Littleton.
Max was born 26 March 1928 in Kansas City, MO and adopted by William Frank and Etta Mae Littleton. Raised in Hastings, NE, he graduated from Hastings High School on 4 June 1946. A high school friend of his talked him into joining the United States Army, where he served from 18 September 1946 to 17 March 1948. After his military service he returned to Hastings and attended Hastings College where he graduated 4 June 1951 with a bachelors degree in physics. Realizing that he wanted to make a living, he attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and graduated with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering on 31 January 1953.
While he was attending the university, he met his future bride, Janet Beran and they were married on 11 April 1954. By that time he had already moved to Albuquerque and started his career with Sandia Laboratories on 2 March 1953. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories on 1 April 1991.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, July 30, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.
